“MERAVIGLIOSO …. ma come non ti accorgi di quanto il mondo sia meraviglioso…” 5 settimane per 5 artisti, dal 10 giugno 2014 al 10 luglio 2014. Evento a cura della Fondazione VOLUME! (via San Francesco di Sales, 86/88).
Dal 10 giungo al 10 Luglio la Fondazione VOLUME! Presenta una rassegna di video arte, che per cinque settimane vedrà i lavori di cinque artisti inserirsi negli spazi di via San Francesco di Sales, per indagare le varie declinazioni di questo complesso linguaggio e le sue molteplici potenzialità. In questa ottica, sono stati invitati, Ruth Proctor, Rä di Martino, Luca Trevisani, Luca Manes e Assaf Shoshan, che si susseguiranno nella programmazione ogni martedì.
Ispirandosi al noto brano di Domenico Modugno, il leit motiv che ha guidato la selezione delle opere è la meraviglia, intesa sia come capacità di osservare la realtà con stupore, passione e ironia, sia come volontà di denunciare o porre l’attenzione su dettagli poco visibili.
Ruth Proctor artista londinese, aprirà dal 10 al 12 giugno il programma della rassegna con tre video, uno dei quali realizzato appositamente per la mostra, intitolato Something wonderful will happen.. Ironia e citazioni, dalle atmosfere legate all’estetica anni ’20, attraversano la produzione dell’artista sin dai suoi esordi. Il video, come materia che esprime al meglio l’idea di movimento continuo è scelto per dare perfetta forma alle performance che l’artista cattura su pellicola.
Seguirà dal 17 al 19 giugno Rä di Martino, artista che gioca col mezzo cinematografico, scomponendone le dinamiche e mettendone in discussione non solo il linguaggio ma anche i meccanismi che internamente lo costituiscono.
Preponderante in tutte le sue opere è il tentativo di dare al tempo un ritmo personale, sospendendolo e dilatandone talvolta la dimensione, in un immaginario che supera ogni definizione.
Dal 24 al 26 giugno Luca Trevisani presenta un corpus di video realizzati nel corso degli ultimi anni, dal forte carattere scultoreo. Questo lavoro affronta tematiche come la trasformazione della materia e il rapporto con la natura, vista come flusso di eventi governati da una processualità osmotica e complessa. Attingendo dalle fonti più inaspettate, come testi scientifici, letteratura e storia ne restituisce i meccanismi attraverso
la potenza e la spettacolarità delle immagini.
Dal 1 al 3 luglio sarà la volta di Luca Manes, Il cui lavoro mescola le peculiarità linguistiche della fotografia e del video, evidenziando le forme di rappresentazione del tempo e dello spazio. Entrambi i lavori esposti riflettono su questo dualismo anche attraverso la rielaborazione di tecniche utilizzate dai pionieri del cinema. Uno sguardo che da forma a livelli e strati più complessi della semplice percezione della realtà e dello spazio-tempo.
Dall’8 al 10 luglio chiuderà la rassegna Assaf Shoshan. fotografo e videomaker israeliano, trapiantato in Francia e attualmente in residenza a Villa Medici.
Il suo lavoro racconta storie di persone che vivono al confine, ritraendo situazioni di difficoltà con intenti non propriamente documentaristici. L’artista parte dalla sua stessa storia per riportare atmosfere in grado di suscitare una naturale immedesimazione e di stimolare una più ampia riflessione socio-politica .

Video Art:  “MERAVIGLIOSO ….ma come non ti accorgi di quanto il mondo sia meraviglioso.. 5 weeks for 5 artists, June 10th – July 10th 2014, Curated by Fondazione VOLUME! (via San Francesco di Sales 86/88, Roma).
From the 10th of June to the 10th of July Fondazione VOLUME! presents a Festival of Video Art. During five weeks, five artists will show their works in the space of Via San Francesco di Sales to examine the various forms of this complex language and its many potentialities. Each Tuesday the artists Ruth Proctor, Rä di Martino, Luca Trevisani, Luca Manes e Assaf Shoshan will show their works.
Taking inspiration from Modugno’s famous song, the Wonder -as the ability to look at reality with astonishment, passion and irony and to highlight invisible details- has been the leit motiv to select the works.
Ruth Proctor, a London artist, will open the Festival from the 10th to the 12th of June, with three videos. One of them- Something wonderful will happen- has been properly conceived for this event. Irony and quotations from the ‘20ies, characterize her artistic production. As the way to better catch the ongoing movement, the video gives perfect form to the performances the artists shoots.
From the 17th to the 19th of June, it will be the turn of Rä di Martino, an artist who plays with the film media by breaking up its dynamics and bringing into question its language and its fundamental elements. In all his works he tries to give his personal rhythm to Time, sometimes dilating it.
From the 24th to the 26th of June, Luca Trevisani will present a series of videos with a great sculptural character. This work concerns with material transformation and with the relation with Nature as a flux of events ruled by osmotic and complex processes. Drawing on the most unexpected fonts, like scientific, literary and historical texts, he returns them through the power of images.
From the 1st to the 3rd of July, it will be the turn of Luca Manes, whose work combines photo and video languages, highlighting the way they represent Time and Space. Both his works are about this dualism and revised the technics used by the cinema pioneers.
From the 8th to the 10th of July, Assaf Shoshan, Israeli photographer and video maker, living in France and now artist-in-residence at Villa Medici, will close the Festival.
His works talk about border-line people and difficult situations. The artist moves from his own history to recall atmospheres we can naturally identify ourselves with, spurring us to a deeper socio-political thought.
