InVerse Poetry Festival, alla John Cabot University, in collaborazione con i Department of History and Humanities, English Language and Literature, e Modern Languages and Literature, ospita una performance esclusiva dello Wow Poetry Slam, il primo torneo internazionale di Slam poetry in Italia.
“Creatures/Creature, a Bilingual Balancing Act” vedrà protagonisti Tania Haberland e Dome Bulfaro e avverrà il 14 di febbraio alle ore 7pm. nell’Aula Magna Regina del Guarini Campus, Via della Lungara 233, Roma.
La serata prosegue con una gara di slam poetry al Salotto di Monk in Via Giuseppe Mirri 35 alle ore 21. Si sfideranno i poeti Dimitri Ruggeri, Dopamina, Eugenia Giancaspro, Barbara Pinchi, Luciana Preden e Angelo Zabaglio.
The InVerse Poetry Festival, together with the Departments of History and Humanities, English Language and Literature, and Modern Languages and Literature, is pleased to host a reading of the Wow Poetry Slam, the first international-level tournament of slam poetry in Italy.
John Cabot University will welcome poets Dome Bulfaro (Monza, Italy) Tania Haberland (South Africa), who will do a one-time performance exclusively for JCU, entitled “Creatures/Creature: A Bilingual Balancing Act.”
Tania Haberland (BA, HDE, MA) is a poet, artist, and teacher. Half Mauritian, half German, born in South Africa, she has lived in the US, UK, Germany, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. Mother-tongue English, she also speaks French, German, Italian and Creole. Her first book Hyphen won the Ingrid Jonker Prize. Tania currently works between Mauritius, Milan and Cape Town as part of CreatiVita, offering services in the art of wellbeing and learning. She has taught in public and private schools, shelters for abused women and refugees, centers for the learning disabled, as well as for a wide range of private clients. Her approach is experiential, creative and sensorial, always learner-centered. Her performance work has varied from slams to performance art to collaborations with musicians: from Bristol to Milan to the Congo and Mauritius. She has been featured at many international literature festivals at the Parliament and National Gallery of South Africa and is even known to perform a mean punk song in the shower.
Dome Bulfaro was born in Bordighera, Italy in 1971 and lives in Monza. He is a poet, performer, artist, and teacher. He has created and organized many poetry events and is artistic director of PoesiaPresente. In 2013 he co-founded the LIPS, Italian Poetry Slam League of which he is the President. He is regularly invited to international festivals of poetry and performance. His published work includes Ossa. 16 reperti (Marcos y Marcos 2001), Carne. 16 contatti (D’IF 2007), Versi a Morsi (Mille Gru 2008), Ossa Carne / Bones Flash (2012, Dot.com Press, with CD & English translation by Cristina Viti), Milano Ictus (Mille Gru 2011) which was adapted as a cross-over poetry, theatre, and music performance. Some of his work, translated by American poet Christopher Arigo, has been published in the U.S. (Interim 2006), Scotland (Luath Press/Torino Poesia 2009), Brazil (2014) and England (2012/2016). He has won several poetry prizes and his poems have been published in numerous anthologies, blogs, and Italian literary magazines. His latest books are Guida liquida al Poetry Slam (Agenzia X, 2016) and Marcia film (Scalino, 2016). For Dome Bulfaro poetry is “body voyaging from death to life, a return journey towards a carnality understood with full awareness.”
